PORT HURON NAMED A WINNER OF THE

“ALL AMERICA CITY” AWARD

Atlanta, GA - The National Civic League has announced this evening at a special ceremony at the Marriott Marquis, Atlanta, Georgia, that the City of Port Huron is a winner of the prestigious “All America City” award.

Only 10 cities nation-wide were selected to be honored with this designation. The All America City award recognizes civic excellence and is bestowed upon communities in which citizens, government, businesses and nonprofit organizations demonstrate successful resolution of community challenges and issues.

“These communities serve as modes for the rest of the country, ” said Christopher T. Gates, president of the National Civic League. “They are tackling challenges that seem insurmountable and are producing positive and tangible results with ingenuity and collaboration.”

Port Huron was represented by several of our partners who are working together and are making a dramatic difference in our neighborhoods, downtown and in projects that have benefitted our young people. Accepting the award in Atlanta on behalf of the citizens of Port Huron were: Marshall Campbell, President and CEO of Citizens First Savings Bank, Anissa Burton, Citizens First Savings Bank; Randy Maiers, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County; Justin King, President of the Youth Advisory Council; Sherry Archibald, Economic Opportunity Committee; Lynn Hines, McMorran Place Auditorium; Mary Wrocklage, Port Huron Neighborhood
Housing Corporation; Randy Fernandez, Downtown Development Authority, and Kim Harmer, of the City of Port Huron’s Community Development Department.

In 1955, Port Huron was named an “All America City”. City Manager Tom Hutka states: “Everyone should be very excited about Port Huron once again receiving this award. There are many people to thank, every person and every organization involved in creative partnerships committed to our community. Teams always accomplish more than individuals.”

All 10 winners will be further honored at a White House reception in the fall.
